Construction

Following our purchase of the Back Behind Reastaurant in October of 2000, Gerry and I decided to keep everything inside the restaurant exactly as it has been for the past 25 years. However, some things needed attention. We refurbished the Men's and Women's bathrooms, constructed a completely new kitchen, added a new walk-in refrigerator, we increased the number of microbrews from three to eleven, adding a state of the art chiller pack system which keeps the beers cold as it travels from the kegs to the taps at the bar. All new dining room chairs were purchased replacing the old ones. A completely new music system was installed inside the restaurant, outside the front door and in the patio area. Outdoors, we removed the old deck and in that area constructed a beautiful patio alongside a large enclosed wedding tent. Three years ago we started producing smoked food products which required the construction of a large propane smoker. Recognizing the need for a fastfood facility in the immediate area, we purchased a New Jersey Caboose which dates back to the mid 1920's. This was refurbished into a snackbar facility which is now called The Loose Caboose. Property was recently purchased a short distance away from the restaurant and will be the future home of the Vermont Country Smokehouse. This will be a retail facility selling smoked products to go.
